Vegan restaurants in Berlin! Like a kid in (gelatin-free) candy store, that’s how we felt. What fan-tas-tic vegan food you can eat in Berlin. Particularly in Friedrichshain, the selection was plentiful. Everywhere you look: vegan this, vegan that…. and at all “regular” restaurants there are always vega and vegan options. How we would love to live here, just for the food (not for the cold winters). Even in all the supermarkets there is something for vegans to choose from. How nice!
Our tips for vegan restaurants in Berlin
#Kopps (vegan)
Linienstraße 94, 10115 Berlin. Website
Kopps is a slightly more expensive restaurant but well worth a visit. The service is friendly and prompt. They also brew their own beer, which of course we had to taste: delicious! The food ranged from gazpacho with strawberry to a parsnip steak. Everything was really delicious. What surprised us most was the vegan egg salad. Jeez! The taste and texture was practically the same as an animal egg salad.
#Hum vegan cuisine (vegan)
Raumerstraße 38, 10319 Berlin, 10437 Berlin. Website
When I tasted the contents of my spoonful of Hum’s Vietnamese curry, a big smile appeared: w hat delicious flavors! This restaurant in Pretzlauerberg is wildly popular. We were lucky to have a spot on a Monday around 2 p.m. The terrace was packed and it was also cozy inside (even though it was 28 degrees). Service is a little slow, but the food is delicious and everything is 100% vegan! Our German friend also ate with us. He rarely eats meat (he does eat fish and animal products), but found it super tasty. Indeed, we are now getting more and more WhatsApps that he is cooking plant-based meals much more often!
#The Bowl (vegan)
Warsaw Str. 33, 10243 Berlin. Website
During one of my other trips to Berlin, I had lunch here. The place is very central, close to Warschauer Straße subway station. The Bowl sits above a vegan supermarket and next door to a vegan shoe store. All the food is – how could it be otherwise – in a bowl. You can choose from all kinds of plant-based variations. They also have healthy smoothies andn for the alcohol lovers thankfully a beer ;).
# Vöner (vegan)
Boxhagener Str. 56, 10245 Berlin. Website
Always wanted to try vegetable doner kebabs? Then stop by Vöner’s. This small Vöner kebab snack bar is near Ostkreuz subway station. Our German friends became increasingly enthusiastic as they ate more of their vegan doner. And so do we! The taste and texture is very good. We would recommend Vöner to add a nice powerful vegan garlic sauce, though. That makes it just a little more finished.
#Brammibal’s (vegan)
Maybachufer 8, 12047 Berlin. Website
Fancy a sweet donut? But plant-based? At Brammibal’s you’ll get your fill. We walked past this little cafe. Unfortunately, we had just eaten a falafel at the market. But it looks nice! When you’ve been there, will you let us know?
#Tung Long
Near the Klunkergarten. Down the street next door.
Another Vietnamese in our list. This one is super-cheap and has vegan options. Unfortunately, a lot of meat on the menu as well. But when you’re in Neuköln and you’re tired of the Klunkengarten, you roll right in here. For 5 to 7 euros you already have a main course. And veggie spring rolls for 2.5 euros. No money right?
This is just a selection from where we have been. There is so much more! Have you been to vegan restaurants in Berlin that drive you absolutely wild? Let me know!
Want to know more about fun non-touristy things to do? I have listed some tips from the locals especially for you. On the recommendation of my German friends who live in Berlin.
Traveling to Berlin is, of course, done by train! With NS International, I booked my train ticket to Berlin. Within six hours you are on German soil with all the vegan delights beckoning from the display cases!
Viel Spass!
